How SEO issues are prioritised
SiteScope ranks every issue with one formula, so the problems that hurt the most pages come first.
The formula
Priority = Severity × % of pages affected
Priority runs from 0 to 300. A critical issue on every page scores 300; a notice on 1% of pages scores 1.
Severity levels
| Severity | Level | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Critical | 5xx and 4xx errors, noindex on a page |
| 2 | Warning | Missing title or meta description, missing H1, broken internal links, redirect chains, slow responses, orphan pages, duplicate content, poor Core Web Vitals |
| 1 | Notice | Missing alt text, missing canonical, thin content, deep pages, broken external links |
Health score
The health score starts at 100. Each issue removes a tenth of its priority, capped at 10 points per issue, so one problem cannot hide all the others.
Why not just count issues?
A raw count treats one missing alt tag the same as a site-wide server error. Weighting by severity and reach puts a technical SEO audit in the order a developer should work through it.
